For more than two decades, I worked inside one of the most complex supply chains ever built.

I had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary people and deploying advanced technology at global scale: ai, robotics, automation, and data systems that reshaped how goods move around the world. And yet, even with all of that, one constraint never went away.

We were still working decisions across functions through meetings, emails, and spreadsheets. We were still stitching teams together by hand. We were still losing time between knowing what needed to happen and actually making it happen. The gap between signal and execution remained. 

What became clear to me wasn’t that we lacked data, intelligence, or talent. It was that our systems were built for coordination, not autonomy.  

The ideas in the Book of Auger weren’t born in theory. They were forged inside real operations, under real pressure, where latency had real consequences.   

What I saw was waste embedded not in intent, but in delay. Financial capital trapped in buffers. Human talent trapped in coordination. Planetary resources consumed to compensate for systems that couldn’t move fast enough.   

This was unfinished work: a gap in nearly every supply chain technology stack that extracts a cost from operators, customers, shareholders, and the planet.
